More Than Clinical Care
Hospital rooms are designed to support treatment, safety, and recovery. Yet for children facing extended stays, they also become temporary home, places where they sleep, play, learn, and spend time with family.
A Mission Born From Experience
Sweet Dream Project was born from a personal experience. What began as a desire to make a hospital room feel a little more like home has grown into a mission to transform the hospital experience for children facing extended stays.
The Beginning
One Hospital Room Changed Everything
During her cancer treatment, Ayana Banks spent long periods in pediatric hospitals. As her mother transformed her room into a comforting, personalized space, Ayana grew up believing every child experienced that same sense of home, until she discovered many did not.
The Insight
Hospital Rooms Heal More Than Bodies. They Shape How Children Feel, Cope, and Heal
Meet Ayana
No child should have to spend an extended hospital stay in a room that feels cold, impersonal, or unfamiliar.
Ayana’s personal experience as a pediatric patient gave her a firsthand understanding of the emotional impact a hospital environment can have on a child and their family.
Today, she leads the organization and remains personally involved in delivering Sweet Dream Duffles to partner hospitals.
Each Sweet Dream Portable Duffle is thoughtfully designed for a specific child
The Beginning
Using information provided by the hospital care team, every duffle is personalized to reflect the child’s interests, hobbies, favorite colors, and personality.
Each bag is created with one goal in mind: transforming a hospital room into a space that feels more familiar, comforting, and uniquely their own.
Powered By The Dream Team
Behind every delivery is a network of family members, volunteers, partners, and donors who help make each project possible.
From product selection to packing and delivery, every Sweet Dream Duffle is prepared with thoughtfulness, care, and attention to detail.
Because personalization is what turns a hospital room into a place a child can call their own.
Growing the dream
This Is Just The Beginning
What began with a handful of deliveries at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia continues to grow through the support of hospitals, donors, and communities who believe in a more human approach to pediatric care.
